To acquaint nursing students with the principles of the occurrence and transmission of infectious diseases, as well as the field of general infectology (fundamentals, immunology, immunoprophylaxis, and antimicrobial therapy of infectious diseases) and specialized infectology (the most common transmissible infectious diseases, diseases with severe clinical presentations and outcomes, emerging diseases and travel-related illnesses, and healthcare-associated infections).
