Description:
The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical examples: to introduce into the professional and scientific content of mechanical engineering; master the application of the acquired knowledge for solving practical tasks in the field of transport; adopts approaches, methods and procedures of mechanical engineering for solving problems.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Differentiate concepts, physical quantities, and units of measurement in the field of basic mechanical engineering.
  2. Comment on the characteristics and properties of materials, as well as the procedures for testing material properties.
  3. Calculate material stress and deformations due to loading.
  4. Dimension machine elements based on sizing criteria.
  5. Formulate expressions for the transmission ratio and power losses in complex power and motion transmission systems.
  6. Differentiate the concepts and laws of thermodynamics, and select appropriate principles for solving a given problem.
