Description:
The course Design and Analysis of Information Systems focuses on studying, analyzing, and designing information systems in real business environments. Students will learn to analyze business operations, break them down into elementary processes, visualize business processes, and create conceptual and relational data models. Additionally, they will become familiar with algorithms for extracting information from data, selecting IT resources, and estimating the costs of implementing a new system.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Conduct a business analysis in a real system to obtain necessary information about the current state of the Information System (IS).
  2. Decompose business functions into elementary processes - perform functional decomposition of the real system.
  3. Visualize business processes.
  4. Describe data flows and repositories.
  5. Create a conceptual data model.
  6. Translate the conceptual data model into a relational data model.
  7. Select IT resources and technologies based on the developed IS project.
  8. Estimate the costs of a new (designed) IS.
