Description:
The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical examples to: be introduced to the professional and scientific content of technical mechanics (statics); master the application of acquired knowledge in solving appropriate tasks in the field of traffic engineering; and adopt approaches, methods, and procedures for the application of mechanics in practice.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Differentiate between concepts, laws, physical quantities, and units of measurement in the field of technical mechanics.
  2. Reduce a system of vector physical quantities and decompose vector physical quantities into their components.
  3. Free a rigid body from constraints and formulate equilibrium equations.
  4. Determine the center of gravity of complex shapes.
  5. Analyze the impact of friction on the equilibrium of mechanical systems.
  6. Solve problems involving planar solid beams.
