Description:
The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical examples to: be introduced to the professional and scientific content of technical mechanics (kinematics and dynamics); master the application of acquired knowledge in solving appropriate tasks in the field of traffic engineering; and adopt approaches, methods, and procedures for the application of mechanics in practice.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Differentiate concepts, physical quantities, and units of measurement in the field of kinematics and dynamics.
  2. Analyze and sketch kinematic diagrams for different types of motion of particles and rigid bodies.
  3. Classify different types of motion of particles and rigid bodies, and solve problems related to the geometry of motion.
  4. Identify the causes of motion and the effects of force on a particle or rigid body using Newton's laws and principles of dynamics.
  5. Analyze and solve complex problems of mechanical energy using the laws of conservation and transformation of energy.
  6. Differentiate types of collisions between two particles or material bodies, and calculate changes in momentum and energy.
