To familiarize students with the indications for blood transfusion and its products in the treatment of patients, when and why they are used, patient preparation, preparation of materials for collection and blood sampling for KG, Rh factor and cross-matching. They will also be introduced to the principles of blood transfusion and blood products, as well as early and late complications.

1. explain the indications for the use of blood transfusions and blood products in the treatment of patients and possible early and late complications
2. differentiate blood products according to their mode of action/indications for use
3. perform the blood sampling procedure for KG, Rh factor and compatibility/cross testing
4. prepare the patient for the use of blood and blood product transfusions: identification, accompanying documentation
5. prepare a dose of blood or blood product, and the material required for administration
6. detect early signs of complications
