Description:
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic terms of labor law and to facilitate an understanding of international labor law and European labor law. Students are trained to enter into employment contracts and to understand and valorize measures for the protection of motherhood, life, health, dignity and privacy and the fundamental rights of workers. Furthermore, the goal of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of the labor regulations and the procedure for exercising rights and fulfilling obligations from the employment relationship. Students are introduced to ways of resolving labor disputes, they are trained to define the concept of social law, social case and social benefits, to understand and valorize the social insurance system in the Republic of Croatia, pension and health insurance as well as the health care system in the Republic of Croatia. Also, the goal is to acquaint students with the peculiarities of working relationships of state and public servants.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Analyze the system of labor, social and official law, their relationship with each other and with other branches of law.
  2. Categorize and analyze types of employment contracts, regulation of regular time and rest, termination of employment contracts, prohibition of competition between workers and employers, associations of workers and employers, collective agreements, forms of worker participation, strikes and other forms of industrial action, pension and health systems, systems social welfare, active employment policy and care for the unemployed, family allowances and parental support
  3. Interpret relevant international, European and domestic law in order to apply the offered legal solutions to a specific legal problem.
  4. Carry out procedures for establishing legally relevant facts and deciding on disputed and non-disputed issues in the field of labor, civil service and social law for application in specific cases
  5. Use various databases on legal sources, court practice and relevant legal literature when preparing decisions on various legal issues and presenting the legal framework in the field of labor-legal relations and the social system
  6. Draft contracts and individual and general legal acts and explanations of individual and general normative acts
  7. Discuss and propose the adoption of decisions, judgments, decisions or other individual legal acts.
