Description:
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts of labour law and to enable them to understand international labour and European labour law. Students are trained to conclude employment contracts in healthcare institutions and other healthcare entities, and to understand and evaluate measures for the protection of maternity, life, health, dignity and privacy and the fundamental rights of healthcare workers. Furthermore, the aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of labour regulations and collective agreements and the procedure for exercising rights and fulfilling obligations arising from employment in healthcare. Students are introduced to methods of resolving labour disputes and other issues arising from employment relations, with special emphasis on the specificities of employment relations in healthcare.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Categorize and analyze types of employment contracts, regular working hours and rest periods, termination of employment contracts, prohibition of competition between workers and employers, workers' and employers' associations, collective agreements, forms of worker participation, strikes and other forms of industrial action both in general and specifically in the field of healthcare;
  2. Interpret relevant international, European and Croatian labor law in healthcare and judge which of the offered legal solutions is most appropriate for solving a particular legal problem.
  3. Conduct procedures for determining legally relevant facts and deciding on disputed and undisputed issues in the field of labor law in healthcare and apply relevant law to the established facts
  4. Use various databases on legal sources, case law and relevant legal literature when preparing decisions on various legal issues and present the legal framework in the field of work in healthcare
  5. Evaluate the legal basis and draft contracts and individual and general legal acts and explanations of individual and general normative acts in labor relations in healthcare
