Description:
Public city transport represents the organized transportation of people in the city and suburban areas. High-quality, punctual, and safe public city transport is one of the important factors for the quality of life of citizens and visitors in the domicile area. Public transport services are provided by carriers using vehicles that move along specific lines at pre-defined stops, inter-stop distances, and timetables. The goal of the course is for students, based on theoretical knowledge and case studies, to: learn about the basic principles of public transport, understand the advantages and disadvantages of public transport for passengers and cargo, acquire knowledge and a logical way of thinking about the possibilities of organizing public transport, learn and understand the issue of the relationship between public and individual transportation, learn about the possibilities of improving public transportation and increasing passenger mobility, apply the learned content of this course in business practice.
Learning outcomes:
  1. To define and describe the public transportation system.
  2. To explain and distinguish between the technical and technological features of the public transport system.
  3. To analyze and identify the wishes and behaviors of travelers.
  4. To distinguish conventional from innovative passenger transport technologies.
  5. To identify and connect the needs and opportunities for improving public transport organization in cities.
  6. To use materials and tools to search scientific and professional literature in their native and English languages.
  7. To present the acquired knowledge, ideas, problems, and solutions independently and in a team.
