Description:

To introduce students to the basic knowledge of how psychological factors influence health and illness, as well as the impact of diseases and physical ailments on the development of psychological problems. Students will become familiar with the potential applications of psychological methods and techniques in health preservation, diagnosis, treatment, and disease rehabilitation.

Learning outcomes:

- explain the meaning of health psychology in recognition of psychological conditions which are related to health/diseases
- predict the behaviour in persons of different ages in facing diseases
- recognize the connection between different health hardships and psychological repercussions
- explain the psychological aspects of working with dying patients and patients in the terminal stage of the disease and their family members
- describe the process of grieving and losses - complicated grieving and depression
