Logistics could be defined as the management of the flow of goods and raw materials, the processes of making finished products, and associated information, from the point of origin (producer) to the point of final use in accordance with the needs of the customer (consumer). A supply chain is a network of different activities, people, participants, information, and resources between a company and its suppliers for the production of a particular product and its distribution to the end customer. The key processes that form the core of supply chain management are supplier relationship management, production process management, demand management, product development and promotion, order fulfillment, customer relationship management, customer support, and returns management. The goal of the course is for students, based on theoretical knowledge and case studies, to familiarize themselves with the elements of the logistics system and the supply chain, identify and master the processes in the supply chain that are related to storage, transportation, procurement, stock, retail, and return logistics, and master with modern logistics concepts and strategies. |
